Worm Granule

Worm Granule 531 is a hardened granule fertiliser containing beneficial microbes, carbon, nutrients and trace elements. Worm Granule 531 combines worm castings, high quality compost and unique rock minerals
to produce a superior nutrient package, in an easy-to-apply granule format suited for agricultural or commercial use.

• Balanced Nutrition: Combines all plant nutrients conveniently held in organic form, ensuring continuous and sustained crop nourishment.
• Improved Soil Health: Organic components enhance soil structure and microbial diversity, helping to build soil faster.
• Environmental Sustainability: Reduces reliance on high rates of synthetic fertilisers, lowering the risk of environmental pollution.
• Enhanced Nutrient Use Efficiency: The presence of refined labile carbon reduces nutrient leaching, maximising the effectiveness of applied fertilisers.
• Size & Specific Gravity (SG): Offers similar size and SG as MAP, for reduced separation in fertiliser box.
• Organic Allowable Input: Certified allowable input for organic production. Whether organic or not there is assured confidence that our granule has withstood the rigorous process via third party organic audits.

Worm Castings are nature’s most refined animal waste in the world, producing enzymes and signaling molecules that turn on good fungi, bacteria and protozoa. These organisms all play a vital role in nutrient cycling and disease suppression. Worm Castings signal to native earthworms to come to the applied area to increase aeration, water infiltration, nutrient cycling and microbial stimulation in your soils. Worm Castings are dense packages of mature humus ready to do work, with no further breakdown required. They also help buffer pH and increase
water holding capacity.

Worm Tech Premium Compost undergoes a unique composting process specifically developed to humify carbon and hold nutrients in a stable organic form. This method produces cations ideal for soil conditions with calcium the dominant cation followed by potassium and magnesium, and with very little sodium compared to animal manure-based fertilisers. Other elements like nitrogen and traces are held in a biologically available form ready for crops. This combination of humified carbon and nutrients is the perfect food source for plants and soil organisms.

Rock Phos Mineral contributes elemental phosphorus and soluble silicates that increase phosphorus uptake. They also help to improve pH and high aluminium soils. This combination enhances plant biomass under stress events.

5 Year Long Term Plot Trials Belfrayden NSW

The Belfrayden trial has been carried out over the past 5 years. Each treatment was continuously applied to the same plot for 5 years with a typical broadacre rotation each year. Over the 5-year period, the trial was exposed to many adverse climatic conditions, experiencing double the average rainfall in one season and half the average rainfall in another.

The trial brief was to reduce Agro fertilisers by supplementing with Worm Granules. The trial design was simple, comprising of only up front applications of base fertiliser at sowing. There was no further nutrition applied post seeding. Management of weeds and pathogens were applied as needed and across all plots.

The cost analysis is calculated using current fertiliser pricing and average commodity prices (Dated March 2025).

Over five years, Wormtech Pty Ltd conducted a long-term field trial at Belfrayden, NSW, to explore the effectiveness of Worm Granules in supplementing or reducing conventional fertiliser use. Spanning various seasons and crop types, the study aimed to evaluate yield and economic outcomes under diverse climatic conditions.
YEAR Crop Rainfall (Growing Season) Key Finding
2020
Wheat
260mm
550kg Worm Granule yielded highest; MAP+Urea most profitable
2021
Barley
224.6mm
150kg Worm Granule almost replaced 100kg Urea
2022
Faba Bean
425.8mm
150kg Worm Granule + 50kg MAP/Urea had highest yield & profit
2023
Wheat
153.2mm
Worm Granule + 50kg Urea matched yield of 100kg Urea
2024
Barley
175.6mm
75kg Worm Granule + 50kg MAP/Urea had highest yield

Each year, plots were treated with combinations of:

• Base fertiliser (MAP & Urea)
• Worm Granule
• No post-seeding nutrition
Weed and pathogen control were applied equally across all plots.

Adding 50–100kg Worm Granule per hectare consistently boosted the efficiency of base fertiliser, especially under minimal input systems. In both high and low rainfall years, this sustainable amendment proved its value in yield performance and gross profitability.

The trial was designed to showcase the upfront application of base nutrients with and without Worm Granule. Overall, yields would have been greater with in-crop applications of Nitrogen and potentially demonstrated further benefits of applied Worm Granule to help capture and utilise that applied Nitrogen.

There is no doubt that Worm Granule was increasing nutrient use efficiency beyond the base fertiliser application of 28kg Nitrogen and 11kg Potassium. It was noted that no Nitrogen application had overall yield penalties and with four cereal crops and only one legume, the soil Nitrogen was being depleted. More importantly, the reduction of Nitrogen during the legume season resulted in good outcomes when Worm Granule was supplied.

In conclusion, additions of 50-100kg Worm Granule resulted in the greatest efficiency use of minimum base fertiliser.
